SD is a homogeneous, electrostatically repulsive (ESD) flooring tile. The technology ensures permanent ESD properties throughout the product’s lifespan, regardless of the humidity level in the area. Due to the density of the conductive vein network, static charges flow easily through the flooring to the ground.
Forbo Colorex SD/EC tiles consist of electrically conductive coated foils, pressed and molded into a solid, homogeneous vinyl block, stable in size and dimensions, and then cut to ensure highly flexible and densely constructed tiles. Colorex SD/EC tiles are characterized by their dimensional stability and extreme durability.
The following guidelines are for ESD control applications. For applications not intended for ESD control, follow the floor care guidelines for Forbo Eternal Sheet Vinyl tiles.

Our Marmoleum Ohmex conductive linoleum meets higher requirements for electrical conductivity. It’s electrical resistance is improved to < 1-108Ω (in accordance with EN1081). This makes Ohmex very suitable for use in areas with sensitive equipment like computer and server rooms.
Static electricity
Friction and subsequent separation of 2 objects can generate tribo-electrification, the most known source of static electrical discharge, causing for example electrical shocks when touching metal objects. The discharge can cause damage to electrical equipment.
Electrical resistance
A floor covering with a low electrical resistance can quickly dissipate electrical charges. Electrical resistance is expressed in Ohm (Ω). Marmoleum Ohmex has an increased electrical resistance of < 108Ω (EN1081). This ensures personal safety and protects equipment that is sensitive to static electricity, like computers and other electronic devices.

Impact sound reduction, how does it work?
Sound is generated by almost all everyday activity. Impact sound is generated by traffic contacting the floor surface. The floor is therefore also the main area where acoustic performance can be influenced.
Impact sound made on the floor in 1 room is transmitted through the floor into rooms below. To measure the impact sound reduction achieved by a floor covering, impact noise is generated with a hammer machine directly onto a concrete floor slab in an emission room and the sound level (S1) is recorded in the reception room below.
The floor covering is then laid onto the concrete slab, and the same impact noise is made on the floor covering, and the new sound level (S2) is recorded. The impact sound reduction (EN ISO 717-2) is the difference, measured in decibels, between the 2 sound levels recorded.
The impact sound reduction of Forbo’s acoustic project vinyl and linoleum floors varies from 14 to 19 dB.
The best way to reduce sound is at the source. Acoustic floors have an important contribution in reducing noise in buildings. Our acoustic linoleum floors create a healthy environment by combining sustainability with excellent sound reduction properties. We offer Marmoleum Acoustic (14dB sound reduction) and Marmoleum Decibel (18dB). A Corkment underlay can be used with regular Marmoleum to reduce impact sound by 14dB.
Marmoleum Decibel provides an impact sound reduction of 18dB. It is 2.5 mm Marmoleum laminated onto a 1 mm layer of polyolefine foam. Marmoleum Decibel is available in 27 colors from the Marmoleum Marbled and Marmoleum Solid collection.
